Where I am coming from…

This is a personal site. There’s no use trying out that “neutral, third party” voice like a book narrator or politician who never says I, me or my. Living without pronouns isn’t easy. Whether the job was reporter/editor, journalism instructor, company owner and start-up advisor, it has always been important to be clear about what’s personal and what’s work-related. That line is getting blurrier than ever – with many positive, and some negative, results.

These days, I help companies and non-profit groups to tell their stories, finding the right combination of informing and entertaining to compete for your limited attention-span. That is just another reason for “Decoding the News” to support media literacy, civic involvement and news judgment – not just more hot takes to amuse friends and family.

This portfolio is a conversation-starter intended to boost my credibility and save you some time on web searching. Here are some projects, delivered for Berkeley Research Group, RSM, various colleges and universities and a few friends.

Some “work” doesn’t yield a tangible product, and includes consulting for non-profits such as Let’s Get Ready (which supports students into and through college) and emerging tech and industries, such as Boreal Renewable Energy Development.
